VAGA, The Visual Arts and Galleries Association
"The visual arts today represent a creative energy as never before." Peter Jenkinson, Chair of VAGA and Director of the New Art Gallery Walsall.
The public have voted for the contemporary visual arts with their feet. Tate Modern welcomed 4 million visitors in its first ten months; the New Art Gallery Walsall 250, 000 in its first year. 45,000 people, in a period of two weeks, witnessed Michael Landy destroy all his personal possessions in a disused Oxford St store. Across the UK visual arts organisations promote the best of new, contemporary and modern art - capturing the imagination and touching lives in individual and diverse ways. VAGA, as a professional network and membership body, campaigns to place the visual arts at the centre of public policy.
